Lesson 1 - Solids, Liquids and Gases
Today we are going to learn about the difference between solids, liquids and gases. Before you watch the below YouTube video, write in your Science books your own definition of:
1. What is a solid?
2. What is a liquid?
3. What is a gas?
Now, watch the YouTube video here

Let's think about some of the information we have just learnt.
What makes a solid?
- a solid has a shape that does not change.
- UNLESS something makes it change.
A solid can be:
- hard and shiny
- fuzzy
- soft and squishy
- smooth
What are some solids you can see around the classroom?
What makes a liquid?
- liquids take the form of the container they are in
- when a liquid is in a container, it takes the shape of the container, but the amount of liquid doesn't change
- liquids have NO fixed shape, but do have a fixed volume

Print out the attached Liquids vs Solids sheet and complete in your Science book. Alternatively, you can use your cut and paste skills on the computer and save these to your student folder!
